Sugar Pie Photography – Beaufort's Family Photographer

This Weekend Was

a lot of everything.  A lot of challenges for the kids to share and play nicely together, get 7 meals on the table at the same time and mostly to swallow my issues and shoot with my camera.  There is nothing like a super talented photographer in your home to make you feel full of inhibitions and worry.  Silly really to be worried about how people judge through the pictures you take but I suppose that sums me up…I care an awful lot what people think.  (And every day I wonder why I decide to share my pictures lest I have an epic fail publicly).  Tamara of Bump Meet Baby Photography is, at least on the face of it, the opposite of me.  She has confidence, is carefree and she doesn’t need to be told to get her camera out…it’s almost the first thing you glimpse when you see her getting out of her car (the gorgeous Kelly Moore bag gets in the way). She’s  the chica that inspired me to pick up my Sony point and shoot two and a half years ago and post my edited monstrosities on FB and other such places for all to see LOL. She got me started.  It was only after careful counseling (and serious patience) on her part that I realized the finesse involved in taking and editing pictures.  Everyone who’s in this game is always refining their skills, to get the best out of themselves…I’m still learning. We all are.

We played, we ate (a lot), we hung out and we shot.  Her post of us is here.  And below is mine. Such a beautiful family inside and out…

Tamara, this is your family now…as you are now.

Let’s do this again soon!

  1. Tamara says: Tears are streaming down my face....'thank you' seems like such an inadequate word. You are amazing and I will never stop telling you that! Believe in yourself as your work speaks for itself! Love you and yes we are doing this again VERY soon :) on 09.18.11 @ 8:41 pm

Beautiful baby girl…

What a gorgeous baby girl.  And so awake.  I think she cried once the entire time I was there.  In fact, she cries so little one could almost fall in love with a newborn’s cry whilst convincing yourself it isn’t as bad as your memory makes you think!  No, the parents of this little girl are just super lucky to have such a sweet baby.

Thanks for letting me share in your afternoon….and welcome baby G!

  1. Vinita says: So beautiful and what an alert baby! Love it! on 09.1.11 @ 12:28 pm

  2. Susanne says: Wow, these are so beautiful! I know how hard it is to get good pictures of an awake newborn, but you did an amazing job! Gorgeous work, as always! :) on 09.9.11 @ 2:12 pm

Family Time

It’s not often that we turn the camera on ourselves and I am ever aware that I don’t feature in too many pictures with Amelia.  Well we changed all that a couple of weeks ago when we had a few days at the beach.  You’d be amazed what a fishing table and 20 dvd’s can do!  Yep, I didn’t plan, and didn’t have my tripod or remote.  Still it was a great way to watch the sunrise and it captured us, as we are – now.

Setting The Tone…

Despite any adults best efforts, kids are always the ones to set the tone when you arrive at a session.  After an hour of panting up and down the beach, it’s fair to say that I needed to sit down.  The kids could have gone on for a while longer but, being children and never forgetting a bribe, they were quite content with going back to town for ice creams!  I had a wonderful time today capturing memories…

They Say That

beauty is in the eye of the beholder…it is!  But I know you’ll all agree with my assessment that  this mama-to-be has a classical beauty that is hard to resist.  She makes it all seem so effortless and simply put, she doesn’t know how amazing she looks!  With only a few short weeks to go her home is abuzz with beautiful baby goodies and plans for the nursery…I can’t wait to meet her baby girl!!

Thanks for giving me this opportunity…hope you enjoy!

I Held Off

on posting this but as she gets nearer and nearer to having her baby girl I find that I just cannot not post this. All I keep thinking is how proud her daughter-to-be will one be to show her friends and family how stunning her mom looked right before she had her.

As my husband pointed out, she has style. He told me it was great that she even had a sarong (yes, he knows what one of those is) to match her hair. I couldn’t agree more…as one of my friends says…beautimus!

Happy Family

I know it’s been a good long while since I have tended to my blog. I have been doing two very private jobs which required too many permissions to showcase. But, they were a lot of fun and I got to meet some fantastic people. As much fun as they were, I am glad to be getting back to families and babies and some good ‘ole sessions.

I eased back into it a couple of weeks ago with a maternity session which I have yet to blog…watch this space, it’s coming! This past weekend I got the opportunity to meet one of the girls that was off sick during the school shoot that I did. I wouldn’t wish sickness on anyone, particularly with the amount that we’ve been through this year but I was so glad she missed it as I got the chance to chase her around for the morning. She directed all of us adults as we were talking and deciding what to do next, she came armed with props and changes of clothes. All she needed was a camera and she’d have been set!

Thanks so much for letting me get to know you…
